CORVALLIS - Oregon State University is celebrating the holidays with the university's 20th annual Holiday Market and free children's community party during the first weekend of December.
The Holiday Market will be held Dec. 1-2 and the children's party is set for Saturday afternoon, Dec. 2, said Machelle Kennedy, coordinator of OSU's Memorial Union Program Council.
Registration for the three-hour children's holiday party starts at noon on Dec. 2, in the campus Memorial Union Lounge. Party activities start at 1 p.m. and parents are welcome to visit the holiday market while OSU student "elves" assist children throughout the party, Kennedy said.
Party events are geared for children ages 5-12. Activities include cookie decorating, holiday crafts, dancing, singing, bingo, and snacks. Corvallis entertainer Jory Aronson will perform at 3 p.m. Aronson's show includes songs, drama and motion. Santa Claus has also scheduled a visit.
Holiday market hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 2. Sponsored by the OSU Craft Center, the market features hand-tooled gifts as well as free live music.
