CORVALLIS - Maureen Healy, a new assistant professor of history at Oregon State University, has received the prestigious Fraenkel Prize from the Institute of Contemporary History in London for her doctoral dissertation.
She is a specialist in Germany and central Europe.
Healy's dissertation, "Vienna Falling: Total War and Everyday Life, 1914-18," was completed last year at the University of Chicago. Healy also has a bachelor's degree in German literature and international relations from Tufts University, where she graduated summa cum laude, and a master's degree from the University of Chicago.
She has taught in Poland and the Czech Republic as well as in the U.S.
