CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity was recognized for excellence in chapter operations for the 1999-2000 academic year by the fraternity's regional leadership conference program.
The conference provided the opportunity to recognize outstanding achievements by its undergraduate chapters and alumni and undergraduate leaders. The OSU Gamma-Sigma Chapter of Kappa Sigma earned the Fraternity Scholarship Award for posting an all-house grade-point average above the university average, as well as above the all-fraternity average.
Kappa Sigma's OSU chapter was founded in 1915. The Kappa Sigma Fraternity is the fourth largest college fraternity with chapters on 207 college and university campuses throughout North America. There are more than 35 fraternities and sororities on the OSU campus, with about 12 percent of OSU's students belonging to a fraternity or sorority.
