CORVALLIS - Auditions are scheduled on Jan. 9-10 at Oregon State University for Diane Samuel's award-winning play, "Kindertransport."
The play will be a feature of OSU's annual Holocaust Memorial Week April 28 to May 5. The auditions will begin at 3 p.m. on Jan. 9, and at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10, in the Green Room of OSU's University Theatre, in Withycombe Hall.
Roles are available for five women, ages 14-80; and one man, age open. Auditions are open to everyone. The play will be directed by Charlotte Headrick, with costumes by Susan Lilly, and technical assistance by Dan Fisher.
The play documents an extraordinary piece of history, during which 10,000 Jewish children were rescued from Germany before the outbreak of World War II. Many were sent to Great Britain; others to the U.S. and Canada. In researching her play, Samuel interviewed many of these "kinder."
Scripts are available for review at the University Theatre office, Withycombe Hall 141.
