CORVALLIS - A 12-member search and screening committee has been selected to help find a new athletic director for Oregon State University.
Interim Athletic Director Lee Schroeder, who in August was named to head the search, said the committee hopes to identify top candidates for the position shortly after the beginning of the new year.
Joining Schroeder on the committee are Jack Davis, associate dean emeritus and former NCAA president; Kent Weiser, associate athletic director; Judy Spoelstra, head women's basketball coach; Robert Jackson, director of football operations; Sally Francis, head of the Department of Apparel, Interiors, Housing and Merchandising and a former OSU Faculty Senate president; and Robert Duringer, director of business affairs.
Others include Robert Foreman, Salem, president of the Beaver Club; Norbert J. Wellman, Portland, past president and chairman of the board of the OSU Foundation; Robert Loomis, Eugene, former president, OSU Alumni Association; Gretchen Schuette, of Portland, assistant to the provost at OSU; Saji Prelis, an OSU senior from Canoga Park, Calif., who is vice president of the Associated Students of OSU; and Ann Marie Vassallo, an OSU senior and former gymnast from Willingboro, N.J.
Robert Frank, professor of English and OSU's athletic representative, will serve as an ex officio member of the committee.
Permanent appointment in the position has been vacant since late summer when former director Dutch Baughman resigned to pursue other opportunities.
