CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University series, Music a la Carte, will present four-hand piano arrangements of music by Schubert and Brahms on Thursday, Dec. 4, in OSU's Memorial Union Lounge. The informal 45-minute concert begins at noon.
The program includes Schubert's "March Militaire in D major" and "Rondo in A major." Also on the program are Brahms' "Liebeslieder Waltzes" arranged for piano duet, and four Hungarian dances.
Rebecca Jeffers and Angela Carlson, who have played four-hand piano together for more than 20 years, will perform the selections. They are both on the faculty at the OSU Department of Music.
Carlson received her training in flute, piano and harpsichord from the University of Idaho, the University of Wisconsin, the Guildhall School of Music in London, and the Aspen School of Music. In recent years she has worked with the Linn-Benton Opera Guild as a previewer and with Opera Theater Corvallis as accompanist and lecturer.
Jeffers taught in the piano department at the University of Michigan before moving to Oregon in 1974. She is staff accompanist at OSU, performing regularly with many vocal and instrumental soloists. She has been music director and pianist for the OSU University Theatre production of Gilbert and Sullivan works, and is embarking on her eighth year as pianist for the Linfield College Vocal Institute.
