SALEM - Oregon State University President Paul Risser issued the following statement Friday in response to comments on higher education made by Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber:
"Gov. Kitzhaber's recommendations offer an exciting opportunity for higher education in Oregon.
"We believe Oregon State is already well along in the direction the governor proposes. We have been working vigorously to improve access and to provide seamless educational opportunity for students.
"Our new OSU Statewide program demonstrates a very innovative commitment to developing new educational partnerships and more timely delivery of programs needed by Oregonians.
"Oregon State will look forward to working on the challenges Gov. Kitzhaber has outlined for all of us associated with higher education in Oregon."
