CORVALLIS - There's a new option for people who are seeking a master's degree in business administration, but are unable to attend day classes.

Beginning winter term 1998, the College of Business MBA Program at Oregon State University will offer evening classes, said Fran Saveriano, program coordinator. In the past, the university's MBA program has offered primarily day classes, which was acce ptable to the full-time traditional day students who made up a large portion of the program's enrollment, Saveriano said.

Winter term begins Jan. 5 at Oregon State and class registration is now under way. For information on the MBA Program, contact Saveriano at 541-737-3150.

"Over the last year, we've found that there are many prospective students who would like to enroll in the program but cannot because they work full-time during the day. In an effort to be responsive to the scheduling needs of all students, beginning wi nter term 1998, the program will offer one section of a four-credit required course and two one-credit electives during the early evening hours, beginning at 6 p.m." she said.

"By fall term 1998, one section of all MBA courses will be offered in the evening hours during each term."

In addition to evening classes, the program is relaxing its previous fall term entry only requirement, allowing students to enter any term, as long as minimum requirements and course prerequisites have been met. Fall term entry is still required if stu dents wish to complete the program on a full-time basis within four or five consecutive terms, she said.

"These changes in the MBA program are necessary to meet the needs of our current and future students and both the faculty and staff of the MBA program are committed to tailoring our program however possible to meet those needs."

The OSU master's in business administration is a general graduate degree suited for students with undergraduate degrees in technical or scientific disciplines, she added. The program can be completed on a full-time basis within 15 months - or five ter ms. Part-time students can complete the program within a two- to three-year time frame, depending on term of entry and number of credits taken per term.
