OSU prof named fellow of textile association

CORVALLIS - Leslie Davis Burns, a professor of apparel, interiors, housing and merchandising at Oregon State University, has been named a fellow of the International Textile and Apparel Association.

She was the only fellow chosen by the association in 1997.

Selection as a fellow in the ITAA is based on exceptional service to the association and significant contributions to the field of textiles and clothing.

Burns is one of the most widely cited authors in the field of textiles, have published more than three dozen articles in professional journals. She also has co-written a pair of textbooks on apparel, and co-edited a book on the social science of dress.

She also has developed a course of fashion theory offered to students via the World Wide Web..

Burns has been on the faculty in OSU's College of Home Economics and Education since 1985. She has won university-wide awards for faculty service, teaching and research.
