Oklahoma State prof to speak Nov. 13

CORVALLIS - Robert Mayer, an associate professor of English at Oklahoma State University, will deliver a free public lecture on Nov. 13 at Oregon State University on Sir Walter Scott's Waverly novels.

The lecture, entitled "Fictional Evidence? Walter Scott's Notes for the Waverly Novels," will begin at 4 p.m. in Memorial Union Room 206.

Mayer is the author of an upcoming book on early English novels. His OSU lecture will focus on the final edition of the Waverly novels, published by Sir Walter Scott from 1814-32.

The lecture is part of a series called "What We Know to Be True: Argument and Evidence." The series is sponsored by the Thomas Hart and Mary Jones Horning Endowment in the Humanities at OSU.
