CORVALLIS - Oregon State Police officials are urging fans attending this Saturday's Civil War football game in Corvallis to use caution and "a little common sense."
OSP officials say they anticipate a high volume of traffic to and from the game Saturday between Oregon State and the University of Oregon, which begins at 1 p.m. in Parker Stadium.
"Our main goal is to ensure the safety of fans, players and university property before, during and after the game," said Lt. Jack Rogers, station commander for OSP at Oregon State.
State Police officials say OSP will work with other law enforcement agencies to reduce hazardous driving conditions "with a strong emphasis toward the intoxicated driver."
Agents from the Oregon Liquor Control Commissions (OLCC) will be "actively working" areas in and around Parker Stadium for alcohol-related violations, according to Rogers. "Again, safety is the main concern," he said.
OSU also has established a new security plan for post-game celebrations. The Oregon State Police, who provide law enforcement to the OSU campus, say they will increase postgame security and arrest persons who attempt to bring down the goalposts. Possible charges could include disorderly conduct, criminal mischief and assault.
