CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host a three-day roller hockey camp Aug. 16-18.
Sponsored by OSU's Department of Recreational Sports and the Corvallis Roller Hockey Association, the camp is believed to be the only one of its kind in the state.
It is aimed at two age groups: 8-11 and 12-15, with skill levels for both beginning and intermediate-advanced players. The camp begins at noon on Friday, Aug. 16, and ends Sunday at 4 p.m.
Participants will receive instruction in power skating, stick and puck control, game strategy and conditioning. Campers don't need to have roller hockey experience, but need "a reasonable level of skating ability."
Campers must have their own equipment, including skates, shin and knee guards, elbow pads, hockey gloves, stick, mouth guard and a hockey helmet with full face shield.
Cost is $95 for commuters or $150 for resident campers.
