“In the past seven years Dan’s leadership has helped build OSU into one of the top ocean engineering research facilities in the world,” said Scott Ashford, professor and head of the School of Civil and Construction Engineering. “He will maintain an active research role at the Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory as we move towards these larger, collaborative research programs with national and international partners.”

Solomon Yim, a professor of structural and ocean engineering, will now serve as interim director of the Hinsdale Wave Research Laboratory.

Yim is a principal investigator on a $10 million, 10-year grant from the Network for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (NEES) Tsunami Research Facility through the National Science Foundation. An expert in structural, ocean, tsunami  and earthquake engineering, Yim received his doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley, has been on the OSU faculty since 1987 and received several research awards.
