Former OSU professor Don Bowman dies

Donald Bowman, 85, died Monday, Oct. 26, in Tigard.  Don was born Oct. 4, 1930, outside of Merrill, Ore., a descendant of Oregon pioneers dating to 1880.

Bowman received his Bachelor’s and Masters in business administration from the University of Oregon in 1952 and 1955 respectively, serving from 1952-4 as a captain in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany; as a civilian Education Director for the Air Force from 1962-69, and a faculty member of SOU, OSU and PSU.

During Bowman’s tenure at Oregon State University from 1974 to 1987, he was a professor of Continuing Education, and administered a business training program called Endeavors for Excellence in 11 western states and Europe.

Bowman was a member of Lake Grove Presbyterian church in Lake Oswego, Oregon; Kiwanis, Masons, Shriners, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and past member of the Elks.

Survivors include his widow Judi, Tigard; son David Bowman, CDM, Cal; daughter Marilyn Beauchene, Hillsboro; sister-in-law Mary Bowman, Portland; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Lake Grove Presbyterian church in Lake Oswego, preceded by a private graveside committal with military honors at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
