The Auryn String Quartet will perform Wednesday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the La Sells Stewart Center.
Corvallis is the first stop on the quartet’s week-long United States visit, which also includes performances in Lewiston, Wash. and Tucson, Ariz. Wednesday’s performance includes: Ludwig von Beethoven: Quartet in C minor, Op. 18 No. 4; Franz Josef Haydn: String Quartet in B-flat major, Op. 50, No. 1; and Johannes Brahms: String Quartet in C minor, Op. 51, No. 1
The group is comprised of: Matthias Lingenfelder, violin; Jens Oppermann, violin; Stewart Eaton, viola; and Andreas Arndt, violincello.
The Auryn were mentored by the Amadeus Quartet and the Guarneri Quartet and have mentored others at the Music Academy in Detmold, Germany where they are professors of chamber music.
Camarata, a group of elite strings players drawn from the music programs of both Corvallis High and Crescent Valley High Schools will play on stage prior to the Auryn concert.
The Auryn concert begins at 7:30 p.m. and tickets may be purchased in advance for $22 at Grass Roots Bookstore. Tickets are $25 at the door on concert night. OSU students with ID and K-12 students enter free. Tickets are $5 for other students and student spouses. Tickets can be ordered online at violins.org.
