The annual Starker Lecture Series from the College of Forestry and the Oregon Forest Resources Institute kicks off March 4 with “Ecosystem Service Markets: Potential and Pitfalls,” by Sara Vickerman, Senior Director, Biodiversity Partnerships, Defenders of Wildlife, in West Linn, and “Crossing Jurisdictional Boundaries: An Integrated Ecosystem Credit Accounting System and a Standard Credit Issuance Process,” by David Primozich, Executive Director, Willamette Partnership. They will speak from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Richardson Hall, Room 107.
This year’s series focuses on Ecosystem Services from Forests and Farms.
The series contines April 6 with “Markets for Ecosystems Services” by Bettina von Hagen, CEO of Ecotrust Forest Management, Inc. She will speak from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Richardson Hall, Room 107.
April 22, Ted Lorensen, former Assistant State Forester, will speak on “Ecosystems Services from Forest Lands — The Oregon Approach.” He will speak from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Richardson Hall, Room 107.
May 6, Sally Collins, Director of the the US Department of Agriculture, Office of Ecosystem Services and Markets, will give the capstone lecture, from 3:30 to 5 p.m., in the LaSells Stewart Center Construction and Engineering Auditorium.
