Opera master class offered

The Oregon State University Department of Music will host a master class with mezzo-soprano Christine Meadows on Wednesday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in room 204 of Benton Hall on the OSU campus.
Meadows has been a frequent guest artist with the Oregon Symphony, the Cascade Music Festival, the Portland Baroque Orchestra, and many other orchestras and music organizations across the Northwest. Last season she sang the title role in Menotti’s “The Medium” with Opera Theater Oregon. Meadows teaches voice, vocal pedagogy and directs the opera program at Portland State University.
The master class is open to the public. General admission $10 at the door. Friends of OSU Opera members, OSU students, and faculty are free. Non-OSU students will be admitted for $5 at the door. For more information:

Steinway Concert final event

(Corvallis) Tickets are on sale now for the third and final performance in Oregon State University’s 2010 Steinway Piano Concert Series, to be held on Sunday, May 9, at 4 p.m. at the LaSells Stewart Center, 875 SW 26th Street, on the OSU campus.
The special Mother’s Day concert will feature 21-year old Zhang Zuo, a 2009 Van Cliburn competitor and winner the 2006 International Piano Competition of China.
Tickets are $20 in advance (open seating), $25 at the door. They are available at Gracewinds Music, Grass Roots Books & Music, Beard’s Framing and Rice’s Pharmacy in Corvallis.
