A chance to take home OSU art

Come to the Information Center in the Memorial Union to see a brilliantly painted, weatherproof and waterproof fiberglass Beaver that could be yours to take home. The proceeds of the ticket sales to win the fruit and flower-covered statue will benefit the Corvallis non-profit, Old Mill Center for Children and Families.

The center provides programs that support all families with children, ages birth to 18, as well as at-risk children. Programs include child and family counseling, and support groups for youth/teens, an integrated preschool program, speech/language therapy, Healthy Start for first birth parents, and a variety of early childhood development programs.

The Beaver was painted Yuji Hiratsuka. Hiratsuka combines Japanese ukiyo-e tradition with modern Western elements, and his work has garnered numerous awards. He has been with Oregon State since 1992, and is currently an associate professor in the department of art.

Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. They are available online at http://www.oldmillcenter.org. The drawing will be held May 8 at the Old Mill Annual Spring Auction.
