The OSU Child Care Friend Raisers (CCFR) are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2009 child care subsidy awards.
A $2,500 award was given to Kelly Chapman (Digital Printing Tech in the Printing and Mailing Department), Norma Cardenas (Assistant Professor in Ethnic Studies), and Mae Araki (Laboratory Animal Technician in Lab Animal Resources Department). Eric Dickey (Program Assistant in Sea Grant) and Elizabeth Kurth (Faculty Research Assistant in Botany) received a $1,000 award.
Since the mid ‘90s the CCFR have been fund raising to reach the goal of $100,000. These awards are made possible thanks to the generosity of those who contributed to the Child Care Endowment and a matching contribution of $2,500 from Beaver Beginnings. The Child Care Endowment subsidy is offered to full-time staff members with a financial need who have children attending Beaver Beginnings, Growing Oaks, the Monroe or Lancaster Child Care Centers.
A parent is a more focused and productive employee when they have dependable child care available, and this usually comes with a hefty price tag. This award from the endowment allows parents to choose quality care for their children.
If you are interested in contributing to the Child Care Endowment, please contact the OSU Foundation at 541-737-4201 to make a contribution (or a plan for your financial year end) and help the OSU community support working families that make such a difference to our society.
