Get Powered by Orange on Sept. 21

As students move in to the residence halls and Connect Week kicks off, so does Powered by Orange – a celebration of the many ways that students, alumni, faculty and friends of Oregon State University are making a difference in Oregon and beyond. 3923769922_1224e8270b_o

On Sept. 21, events in Portland and Corvallis  will kick off our Powered by Orange Celebration.

In Portland, the Portland Powered by Orange group photo will take place at 1 p.m. at Tom McCall Waterfront Park, Salmon Street Fountain. This is a group event for everyone, with an Oregon State connection, to have your picture taken as one large mob of Beaver believers. All you have to do is show up wearing orange and we will take care of the rest.

Then, from 5 to 7 p.m., come join other Beaver alums and friends for an afterhours event at Jimmy Mak’s, 221 N.W. 10th Ave., in the Pearl District. Enjoy free appetizers, drink specials, live music and meet All-American OSU Gymnast Jami Lanz. We will be giving away tickets to the Arizona football game, one day shopping passes to the Nike employee store and other Oregon State gear. Let’s show Portland what it means to be Powered by Orange! For more info, call 503-553 3431.

In Corvallis, join College of Science Dean Sherman Bloomer, Corvallis Mayor Charlie Tomlinson and others at 10 a.m. in the Women’s Building for a Powered by Orange Media and Campus Briefing on OSU’s growing research, academic and economic impact. Learn how OSU made unprecedented, singular contributions to Oregon in 2008-09 and is poised for even greater impact in the coming academic year.

Then at noon, you’re invited to a Powered by Orange Launch Party in the Memorial Union Quad featuring music, food and drinks, prize giveaways, Benny the Beaver and more.

Finally, join faculty, staff, students and other OSU supporters, including owner-operator/OSU alumnus Gary Little, for Powered by Orange After Hours at Squirrel’s, at 100 SW 2nd in downtown Corvallis. Enjoy door prizes, trivia, music, drinks and fun for Beaver Believers throughout our community.

There’s much more happening that week – Powered by Orange pet adoption days at Humane Societies in Portland and Corvallis, Powered by Orange activities at University Day on Sept. 24, an OSU/United Way Powered by Orange Day of Caring on Sept. 25,  and more. Visit poweredbyorange.com for details and other ways you can Power Up.
