Jan Michael Looking Wolf Reibach, Native flute instructor in the OSU Department of Music, was awarded Best Flutist of the Year for his CD, "Unity" at the 2008 Native American Music Awards, held in Niagara Falls, NY on October 4. Reibach and his band will be performing at Music a la Carte on Thursday, October 16 at noon in the Memorial Union Lounge. Admission is free.

Viva Hispania...Viva Oregon State University Faculty & Staff!! It will be OSU faculty night when the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra opens its 103rd season on Friday, October 17, with VIVA HISPANIA!, a celebration of the rich heritage of Hispanic music from three continents. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Austin Auditorium of LaSells Stewart Center, 26th & Western Blvd. This concert is being presented as part of the 37th annual meeting of the Linguistic Association of the Southwest (LASSO) being held at OSU October 17-19. OSU faculty and staff may recieve up to three free symphony tickets at the box office before the concert with their OSU ID card. On the program: Chavez: Sinfonia India, Ginastera: Estancia, de Falla: El Sombrero de tres picos and Ravel: Rapsodie espagnole.
