Cathy McCavitt

Work Experience
Cathy worked with the Entomology Team at MCAREC 20 years ago. Since then, she worked six years as a Biologist for the United States Forest Service performing wildlife, stream, and botanical surveys. Cathy also worked as a Teaching Assistant in Special Education for six years. After obtaining her Masters in Education from Washington State University, Cathy taught Science and Mathematics to middle school students for six years.

Current Responsibilities
Her lifelong love of insects brought her back to MCAREC in June 2008. Cathy enthusiastically maintains two different species of insects and assists in the implementation of Integrated Pest Management programs. She is currently involved with a study comparing air-blast sprayers with modified sprayer types. The main objective of the study is to find a sprayer that provides good coverage and pest control while reducing spray drift that may enter our waterways.
