Kristi obtained her Master’s degree in Horticulture and Agronomy in the Pomology Department at UC Davis.  Her Master’s thesis was on self-incompatibility (the prevention of inbreeding) in almond where she isolated and cloned the genetic sequence of variations (alleles) of the gene controlling self-incompatibility in approximately 40 almond cultivars.  The objective was to try and determine if there was a genetic difference between self-incompatible and self-compatible cultivars.

Kristi joined our Postharvest team at MCAREC in 2005.  She assists Dr. Jinhe Bai doing research focused on postharvest plant physiology and handling of horticultural crops.
