Joy Lee is our SNAP-Ed Program Assistant for the SNAP-Ed program here in Hood River County.

Joy grew up in the Seattle area but went to college in Boise, Idaho.  After graduating she taught adult basic ed on the Colville Indian Reservation in Omak and Nespelem, Washington and volunteered as a music teacher at St. Mary’s Mission School.  She later moved to Battle Ground, Washington where she worked at ESD 112 and later at Evergreen School District as the coordinator/trainer for their student records department.  In 1995 she and her husband and 3 children fulfilled a life-long dream and purchased a small cattle/alfalfa farm in Boardman, Oregon.  While living in Boardman Joy was a substitute teacher, piano teacher, and worked on the farm.

She began working as an EPA for the OSU Extension in Morrow County in 2007 where she provided nutrition education to children in grades K-8.  She transferred to Hood River County as an EPA in 2009.  She and her husband, who works in Portland, bought a home in Cascade Locks where they live during the week.  On weekends they travel back to the east side where they live on a small wheat farm near Hermiston.  They spend a lot of time on the weekends riding horses in the hills around their farm, fishing and boating on the Columbia, spending time with their grown up kids, and working on the farm.
