Advisory Board

Anticipating the many difficulties and challenges for our industry, it was a necessity to establish the MCAREC Advisory Board in 1999. The responsibility of a Board member is to represent the agricultural industry and the public in advising the MCAREC with particular reference to research programs, facilities, priorities, and resources.

Advisory Board members of the Mid-Columbia Agricultural Research and Extension Center (MCAREC) represent public and private interests associated with agriculture and rural communities in the Mid-Columbia region of Oregon. Board members advise the Research Center with particular reference to research programs, facilities, priorities, and resources. Consistent with the Advisory Board By-Laws and Constitution, members are expected to provide advice that supports the MCAREC in meeting its Mission of developing a solid base of objective scientific information that addresses the needs of the fruit industry in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. Members generally serve for three years. Board members are expected to be pro-active and provide relevant advice on existing and future issues impacting the Mid-Columbia region. Besides providing helpful guidance to the Center in prioritizing, developing, and implementing research-related activities, members are expected to help the Center in disseminating research findings relevant to the agricultural industry and rural communities.
