Yellow-fruited (European) Cranberrybush Viburnum vi-BER-num OP-u-lus
- Broadleaf deciduous shrub, 6-8 ft (1.8-2.4 m) tall, similar width, dense, stiff habit. Leaves simple, opposite, similar to species, glossy pale to medium green, somewhat lighter color than many selections, fall color from yellow or somewhat reddish. Flowers white in flat clusters. Fruit golden-yellow, translucent when ripe.
- Sun to part shade, needs very little care but will not stand poorly drained conditions, no pruning.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 4 Apparently originated in Austria in about 1842. It has received may awards by the Royal Horticulture Society, Award of Merit, 1932; First Class Certificate, 1966; and Award of Garden Merit, 1993.
