- Deciduous shrub, 6-8 ft (1.8-2.7 m) tall, dense, rounded mound. Leaves opposite, first leaves lobed, 3-9 lobes, later leaves may not be, 2.5-6.5 cm long, blue-green, glabrous. Flowers borne on 6-8 cm clusters along the branches, pale purple, fragrant; blooms in spring (May). Apparently often sterile.
- Sun or part shade. Heat tolerant and mildew resistant. Forms many suckers with age.
