Rhododendron Ramapo (R. fastigiatum × R. neriiflorum)
- Broadleaf evergreen shrub, dwarf, 2 ft (0.6 m), taller in the shade. Leaves alternate, simple, small, they change color during the year, new growth is a dusty gray blue, in winter a deep metalic color; give off a "pine" odor when crushed. Flowers small (2.5 cm) pinkish-violet.
- - 20o F, early-mid, quality rating 3/4/4 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)]. Grows well in the sun. Introduced about 1940.
