Rhododendron Horizon Monarch (Nancy Evans × Point Defiance)
- Broadleaf evergreen, 6 ft (1.8 m) in 10 years, upright and spreading. Leaves elliptic, 17 cm long, leathery, apex has a small point, base rounded or wedge-shaped, dark green. Flowers openly funnel-shaped, 10 cm across, pale greenish-yellow to light yellow with a small, vivid red flare; about 15 flowers per large ball-shaped cluster; buds scarlet.
- 5o F, mid; quality rating: 4-5/4/4 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)]. Developed by E. C. Brockenbrough, Bellevue, Washington, introduced in 1989.
