Rhododendron hanceanum

- Broadleaf evergreen shrub, 2 ft (0.6 m) tall in 10 years, to about 6 ft (2 m) tall, growth low and compact to tall and sprawling; young shoots scaly. Leaves 7-11 cm long, 3-5.5 cm wide, narrowly ovate or oblong-elliptic, upper surface dark green and scaly and slightly pubescent, underside pale green with flat or sunken golden brown scales. Flowers creamy white to pale yellow or yellow, funnel campanulate shape, about 2.5 cm long, in clusters with 5-15 flowers.
