Rhododendron Blue Diamond (R. augustinii × 'Intrifast')
- Broadleaf evergreen shrub, 3 ft (0.9 m), vertical, dense, finaly branched. Leaves small (ca. 3.5 by 1.5 cm), azalea-like, elliptic, bronze-green in winter. Flowers small, lavender-blue, corolla almost flat , about 4.5 cm wide, with a short tube, 4-5 per truss, blooms all along stems. At least two forms are grown. (Many cultivars with similar flowers.)
- -5o F, early-mid, 4/4/4 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)]. Sun (best) to light shade, susceptible to root weevils.
