Rhododendron Anah Kruschke
- Broadleaf evergreen, 6 ft (1.8 m) in 10 years, compact, rounded habit. Leaves elliptic, acute apex,
wedge-shaped base, glossy yellow-green to dark green, to 13 cm long.
Flowers 7.5 cm wide, pale lavender-blue to reddish purple, 10-12 per tight clusters.
- -15° F, mid-late to late, 3-4/4/5 [flower / plant & foliage / performance; scale 1 (poor) - 5 (best)].
Sun and heat tolerant; popular in California.
- Introduced in 1973 by Wright's Nursery of Canby, Oregon. Reportedly bred by Franz Kruschke of
Clackamas County, Oregon, and named for his wife Anah. Derived from 'Purple Splendour' and a
seed-grown specimen of R. ponticum.
