- Deciduous tree, 20-25 ft (6-8 m), round flattened crown, forked trunk, erect twiggy branches, slender whip-like twigs. Leaves alternate, simple, ovate to oblong-ovate, 2.5-10 cm long, about half as wide, sharply and often doubly serrate, acuminate, lustrous dark green above. Flowers are semi-double, 10 petals, deep pink in bud, open to a light pink and almost white, about 2 cm wide. May flower sporadically in the fall and then fully in the spring.
