Yunnan Pine PI-nus yoo-nan-EN-sis
- Conifer, evergreen tree to 30-50 ft (10-15 m) high, usually conical, older trees have a flat crown. Bark red and thin, exfoliating, basal trunk bark furrowed and divided into thick plates. Leaves (needles) bright green, thin and pendulous, 3 per bundle occasionally 2), 20-30 cm long. Cones about 9 cm long, red-brown, usually in groups of 3, persisting for some time.
