Chinese Pieris, Himalaya Pieris pi-ER-is for-MO-sa
- Broadleaf evergreen shrub 10-12 ft (3-4 m), slow growing, rounded, sprawly. Leaves 8-18 cm long and sharply serrated at the base. Colorful in spring, with copper, reddish young leaves and large clusters of white, urn-shaped flowers in late spring (April).
- Sun to part shade. Requires moist, acid soils, benefits from organic mulch. Protect from winds.
- Hardy to USDA Zone (7)8 Much less cold hardy than P. japonica. Plants in Corvallis damaged by temperatures near 11 °F. Native to Yunnan, southwest China.
