Phellodendron His Majesty™ Rutaceae
His Majesty Corktree fel-o-DEN-dron
- Broadleaf deciduous tree, to 40 ft (12 m) high, similar spread, broadly vase-shaped, short trunk; medium
green leaves, yellow fall color. Generally fruitless.
- Sun, wide spreading root system, does well on many soil types. Withstands drought and
polluted air.
- Note: Phellodendron amurense, Amur Corktree, is considered an invasive species in some
areas because fruit/seeds of female trees are distributed by birds and via stream and drainages.
However, His Majesty™ is generally fruitless so is not a significant treat to native areas.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 3 Introduced by Harold Pellett of the University of
Minnesota, it appears to be a hybrid of P. sachalinense and P. amurense.
