Boston Ivy, Japanese Creeper               par-then-o-SIS-us tri-kus-pi-DAH-ta

• Deciduous vine, 30-40 ft (9-12 m).  Leaves alternate, simple, 5-10 cm wide, 3-lobed, (tricuspidata: three pointed, the leaves), acuminate and coarsely serrated lobes, (smaller leaves may have 3 leaflets), glossy dark green in summer, turning red and scarlet in fall.  Short tendrils with terminal adhesive disks.  Bluish black berries.
• Sun to full shade.  Withstands trying city conditions.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 4     Native to central China, Japan
• Corvallis: excellent specimen on wall at northwest corner of Walnut Blvd. and Rolling Green Dr. (dentist's office); also on the wall of the parking lot at Jackson Ave. and 21st St.
