• Broadleaf deciduous tree/shrub, to about 25 ft tall and 20 ft wide (~8 × 6 m)), rounded outline.   Flowers are abundant, about 12 cm across, with 12-15 drooping, strap-like petals (tepals), flower color on the back of the petals may vary in different years, from pale pink to rich pink, the inside is white; fragrant and rather frost resistant.  Blooms in late winter to early spring.
• Sun or partial shade, acid, well-drained soil.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 4.   Flower buds showed little damage at -32° F in the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (Snyder, 2000).
• This chance hybrid is from a cross between M. kobus and M. stellata 'Rosea'. It was raised in Sussex, England in the 1950s and registered in 1955 (Gardiner, 2000).
