Amur Maackia               MAK-ee-a a-moor-EN-sis

• Deciduous tree, to about 30 ft (9 m) tall in cultivation, nearly 50 ft (15 m) in the wild., rounded habit, branches upright, then arching and spreading.  Leaves alternate, pinnately compound, 20-30 cm long, odd number of leaflets (7, 9, or 11), each elliptic to oblong-ovate, 5-8 cm long, rounded at base, tip acute, margin entire, upper surface grayish green when unfolding, later a dark, almost olive green, paler below.  Flowers white with greenish yellow, about 1 cm long, in erect, stiff clusters 10-15 cm long.  Fruit (pod), flat, 3.5-6 cm long and about 1 cm wide.
