- Broadleaf evergreen shrub, possibly somewhat smaller than Loropetalum chinense, leaves reddish and finally purple-green or green, flowers pink to reddish.
- Sun to part shade. Acidic, well-drained soil.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 7 An increasingly popular landscape plant in China, especially in round-about's and median strips; often sheared.
- An increasing number of cultivars (but likely more "names" than genetic differences), some of the more common selections include 'Blush', 'Daybreak's Flame', Fire DanceTM, Plum DelightTM, RazzleberriTM and 'Sizzling Pink'. See Dirr (1998, p.588) for cultivar descriptions.
