• Broadleaf evergreen shrub, possibly somewhat smaller than Loropetalum chinense, leaves reddish and finally purple-green or green, flowers pink to reddish.
• Sun to part shade. Acidic, well-drained soil.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 7      An increasingly popular landscape plant in China, especially in round-about's and median strips; often sheared.
• An increasing number of cultivars (but likely more "names" than genetic differences), some of the more common selections include 'Blush', 'Daybreak's Flame', Fire Dance^TM, Plum Delight^TM, Razzleberri^TM and 'Sizzling Pink'.  See Dirr (1998, p.588) for cultivar descriptions.
