- Evergreen shrub, 2-5 ft (0.6-1.5 m) tall, even wider, dense, bushy. Leaves opposite, simple, ovate to cordate, 2-5 cm long, 1-2.5 cm wide, margin wavy, dull dark green above, lighter below. Flowers white, 3.5 cm wide, yellow center (stamens), 5 petals with a yellow spot at base of each, borne on terminal or short side branches, solitary or in groups of 3.
- Full sun, well-drained site, drought tolerant, grows well on sea coast.
- Hardy to USDA Zone (7) 8 (one of the hardiest species) A hybrid of C.
salviifolius and C. populifolius, found in southern Europe.
