- Conifer, evergreen tree, to about 50 ft (15 m) high, narrow conical-upright, branches ascending on young plants, spreading more widely on older plants. Branchlets numerous, dense, flat, and soft. Needles blue-green to gray blue. Bears few cones.
- Hardy to USDA Zone 5 Developed in Worcester, England around 1870.
- A common cultivar; easily propagated. Possibly surpassed by blue, but narrower, cultivars such as Alumii Magnifica and Columnaris (van Gelderen and van Hoey Smith, 1996).
- Oregon State Univ. campus: north side (front) MU, on either side of main stairs and east and west of there.
