• Broadleaf evergreen shrub, to 4-5 ft (1.2-1.5 m) tall and 6 ft (1.8 m) wide, stiff, somewhat curving stems.  Leaves alternate, simple, oblong to ovate-oblong, 4-8 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, rounded to somewhat chordate at base, margin mostly entire, green above, white tomentose (wooly) below.
• Sun.  Does well in coastal environments.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 8        Native to New Zealand.  Most garden plants listed as B. greyi apparently are hybrids of several Brachyglottis species.  According to Sunset (2001), most plants sold as B. greyi or Senecio greyi are actually Brachyglottis Dunedin Group ‘Sunshine’.
• greyi: named for Sir Greorge Gray (1812-1898), explorer and colonial administrator, govenor of several colonies, including twice that of New Zealand.
