Cretan Maple                A-ser sem-per-VI-renz

• Broadleaf deciduous or partly evergreen tree/shrub, to 20 ft [6 m] high, usually smaller.  Leaves opposite, simple, variable, unlobed or 3 lobed, 1-4 cm long and 1-2 cm wide, bright green, glabrous, margin entire or shallowly undulated, sometimes with a few small teeth.  Flowers light yellow, in upright clusters (corymbs) about 2 cm long.  Fruit (samara) 1.5 cm long, glabrous, parallel or sometime at angle of 60^o.
• Hardy to USDA Zone 6   Native to the eastern part of the Mediterranean area (i.e., Lebanon, western Turkey, Greece).
