Rodent Health Surveillance Program

Sentinel animals in all LARC rodent holding areas are surveyed throughout the year for selected rodent pathogens and parasites.  Results of the tests are loaded onto this web page for easy access to the health status of animals in individual LARC-managed facility rooms.  For additional information regarding the rodent health surveillance program email LARC Rodent Health Surveillance at larc@oregonstate.edu.

All LARC testing is performed by idexx-radil.  For information about IDEXX RADIL, health monitoring services and test procedures consult, www.idexxradil.com

In addition to veterinary support by the Laboratory Animal Resources Center, a full range of animal disease diagnostic services are available through the College of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory.  The Laboratory is accredited by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians and is a member of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network.  Services available include necropsy, histopathology, bacteriology, virology, and molecular diagnostics.  For additional information on obtaining diagnostic services contact the LARC, larc@oregonstate.edu, or visit the VDL website, http://vetmed.oregonstate.edu/diagnostic.

Instruction on basic rodent necropsy techniques and tissue collection for research is available through classes scheduled according to demand and instructor availability.  For information about sessions contact Dr. Löhr at Christiane.Löhr@oregonstate.edu.
