KBVR-TV, Oregon State University’s student-run televisions station provides professional experience and hands-on training in the field of video and television production for OSU students.

Working in news and sports, KBVR reporters cover events alongside the professional station. TV students improve skills in writing, speaking, and teamwork while networking with Portland and Eugene media. KBVR experience builds the resume while enhancing classroom learning. You can earn elective credits, work your way up the ranks to paid staff positions, make friends, express yourself and have fun through this creative outlet.

At KBVR there are many opportunities to participate behind the scenes as a crew member on any of our existing television programs. We’ll train you on all the necessary equipment. No prior experience is necessary.

Our equipment is housed in a facility with two studios and control rooms:
• equipped with a state-of-the-art production switcher and lighting console
• Sony studio cameras
• Macintosh (FinalCut Pro)
• Inscriber computer graphics system

• For field productions: Sony mini DV cams, broadcast quality, full-sized Sony camcorder, and various field recording equipment

Many of our current television programs are always looking for new on-air talent. Interested in journalism? Be an anchor on KBVR News! Is comedy more your style? No Big Whoop would love your help! Like music? You could be the next host of Locals Live! The opportunities are endless!

Once we’ve helped you learn the basics of production, we supply the tools and equipment to make your ideas for a television program a reality. Sports, action, comedy, music, instructional or political—we’re open to new ideas.

Many of our current television producers are also filmmakers. We have the tools and the resources to help you create your own film, which can then be aired on television and screened for a live audience at our yearly campus film festival.

KBVR-TV goes on the road with the Silver Twinkie. Our remote trailer makes live coverage of music, political, sporting and celebrity events happen. Pulling cable, organizing coverage, collaborating with other groups gives KBVR students the experience they need to work for ABC and Prime Sports when they come to cover the Beavers.
