The Conversant Program

ConversantProgram1

The Honors College has partnered with INTO OSU’s Conversant Program to provide a cool opportunity for honors students to earn credit while helping INTO OSU students practice their English.  It is a great way to make a new friend, increase your cultural awareness, and help teach INTO OSU students more about life in America.

Honors College students interested in joining the program for credit should:

  • Meet with your UHC advisor and complete an Honor’s College Learning Agreement.
  • Visit the Conversant Program website and complete the application form attached.
  • Submit your application to the Conversant Program coordinator, Benjamin Kibler, by bringing your completed application to the International Living Learning Center’s Welcome Desk.

Once your application is processed, you will be contacted via email and asked to sign up for a Conversant Program volunteer orientation session.  After completing orientation, Benjamin will match you up with 1-2 INTO OSU students and help schedule the initial time to meet your new partner(s).

To complete the requirements for earning credit, Honors College students will need to keep a log of the times and places they met and the topics discussed, and complete a 2-page “reflections” paper at the end of the term.

We are excited to offer this unique learning opportunity in partnership with INTO OSU.  If you have questions about the Conversant Program, please contact Benjamin Kibler.  For all questions about earning UHC credit through this program, please contact UHCAdvisor@oregonstate.edu
