The Honors Activities and Advisory Committee (HAAC) is an organization for all UHC students. Students in HAAC are involved in campus activities in both big and small ways. HAAC meets weekly in the SLUG (Strand Basement) to plan events, both academic and recreational, service projects, and trips. HAAC projects include:
In addition to activities, members of HAAC also serve as student representatives of the UHC. In this way, HAAC serves as a place where students can voice their concerns and give feedback to the administrators of the college.
If you are interested in joining the Honors Activities and Advisory Committee, you are welcome to attend their weekly meetings posted on the UHC Calendar or contact the UHC office in STAG 229 or by email.
In its first year, UHC students founded a student newspaper now known as The Ecclesia. Renamed and published twice a year, The Chronicle addresses current campus issues and a broad spectrum of ideas and goals relating to education and its pursuit.
Students from a myriad of backgrounds earn Honors College credit by contributing their talents of writing, editing, photography, or page design to The Chronicle, and seeing the results of their labors in print each term.
The UHC takes great pride in our newspaper. In 2004, The Chronicle was awarded first place for outstanding student publication by the National Collegiate Scholars. The Chronicle also received the first place award in 1998, and the second place award in 2001.
For more information about The Chronicle, or to become a member of The Chronicle staff, please contact the main UHC office in STAG 229 or by email.
The Honors Council is a Faculty Senate committee consisting of at least six faculty members and at least two students. The Honors Council works with and advises the Dean, assisting in the curricular structure and content of the Honors College. This may include admissions, selection of Honors Faculty members, and maintenance and regular assessment of program quality. Students interested in becoming involved in the UHC Council should contact the University Honors College office in STAG 229 or by email.
Visit the University Honors College Council website for more information.
The Honors Envoys is a group of current UHC students who volunteer their time to help represent the UHC at recruiting events, connect with new student prospects, and provide key assistance with UHC outreach. The Envoys are accessible via e-mail and listed on our home page for you to connect with should you have any questions about what it is like to be a student in the UHC. If you are a current student interested in becoming an Honors Envoy please contact Rebekah Lancelin, UHC Academic Advisor.
