Alumni In The News

Eat Locally, Market Globally

2009 Graduate Dan Cutter was featured in the Spring 2009 edition of Terra Magazine.

Dann Cutter has maintained a reactor on a nuclear submarine and, for the past 12 years, kept the computer networks running at Oregon State University’s Hatfield Marine Science Center. He serves on the Waldport, Oregon city council and two state advisory boards (rural health care and transportation). Why, then, would he return to college for more education?

The answer is personal, best answered by Cutter with a photograph that shows him curled up with his four-year-old daughter Kacey and their two cats. “When Kassandra was born in 2004, I decided it was time to do something serious about my life goals,” he says. More

Giving to the UHC

Excellence is the watchword of the University Honors College at OSU, and interest in the UHC is skyrocketing. The UHC is becoming a destination for high achieving and highly motivated students from across the state and around the nation. As such the UHC has established the Excellence Fund to help students achieve their goal and fulfill their potential. Scholarship is a serious responsibility but also one carrying expenses students are hard pressed to meet. The purpose of the UHC Excellence Fund is to provide research stipends to eligible students to be used for conducting their senior thesis projects.

How to Help

Supporting Honors students is not difficult. A contribution to the OSU Foundation, noting the UHC Excellence Fund, is all it takes. Among our Honors students may be another Tuneko Okazaki, Linus Pauling, Virginia Woolf or the young professional down the street. With your help, anything is possible. We will all benefit as the students benefit.

If you are excited by the prospect, please direct your contribution to the OSU Foundation – UHC Excellence Fund. If you have questions, contact Mary Ellen McGillin, Oregon State University, Foundation Office, 850 SW 35th Street, Corvallis, 97333; Ph 800.354.7281; OSUFoundation_@_oregonstate.edu.
