After living in Springfield, Oregon for my entire life, I am enjoying the many opportunities to try to new experiences and meet new people at Oregon State. The University Honors College has been an important factor for me in doing so. I’ve made a lot of friends in the small honors classes and enjoyed learning opportunities not available to all students such as in honors biology lab where we sequenced our own DNA!
I live at Azalea House, a cooperative house of 55 girls which is an on-campus alternative to the residence halls. I’ve met lots of different people in my house and am now involved in the house leadership as the vice president. The diverse classes offered by OSU have also given me the opportunity to try new activities ranging from ballroom dancing to water polo.
I would encourage incoming freshman to get involved on campus as soon as possible through both UHC programs and other student groups. It’s worked great for me so far! Please feel free to e-mail me if you have questions about the UHC, cooperative housing, the transition to college life, or anything else you’d like to know. I’d be delighted to respond!
